    I've never heard anyone say a Smith is better than Barbell for this exact reason. You need to USE stability muscles on BB.

    We got the seated leg curl machines with the pad right under your knee and is, in my opinion, therefore useless. It pulls you up an it hurts your shins. Who made these?!

    Those verticle smith machines are rare to come across in my experience in many gyms. More often I've seen the angled variation which require tweaking of foot positioning. And if I'm not mistaken, the direction you face changes activation of certain leg muscles.

    I always look to ronnie coleman to prove others are fake naturals. Ronnie is effectively 4 standard deviations of muscle building potential above the mean. He was 198lbs stage lean as a natural. Anyone whos even close to this has super elite 1 in a million genetics. Anyone whos beyond it and claims natty is a blatantly lying scumbag.

    Hey coach! Would arching your back when doing seated leg curls be bad? I tend to hyperextend my lower back when going heavier with load and feel some tightness there but thinking of lowering the weight. I probably answered my own question, but any advice would be great!

    Barbells and dumbbells you have to bring in the stabilizer muscles... With machines you're using training wheels.

    I’d be curious to see you analyze his training from the 80s where he built a majority of his mass. For those unaware, he did full body 3x a week early in his training, then he switched to a Torso Limbs split done 4x a week, and by the end of the 80s he has doing a 3-way split that looked like a PPL split but broken up with rest days (so not training 6 days in a row)

    To me, Lee Priest is a prime example. If you can move a barbell as smoothly as Lee, stability is instantly a non factor

    One of my gym locations has this, a plate loaded pendulum squat machine. I love it. I now do my leg days at that location so I can always do pendulum squats.

    There's more differences between smith machine and free weight BB press than just stability. Smith machine also puts you into a fixed bar path. Some people might be stronger (or as strong) with the BB as SM because they're able to leverage the weight in a way that's more favorable than with the bar path that the SM provides. But all things being equal, more stability is going to mean you can lift more weight. I.e., you're going to be stronger on a seated dumbell OHP than a standing one.

    Based off of what you said in this video, I would make the argument that the sumo deadlift would be better for training the glutes. You made the claim that in the conventional, the fibers of the glutes line up with the line of pull, but the glute fibers don't run up and down. They run more diagonal. Exactly in the line of pull that would be happening in the sumo DL.

    After a long time I finally gave Incline Smith Bench a shot and I'm way stronger than on Incline Bench. Can also grind reps more confidently if I need to.

      The smith machine is tricky for some anatomical builds, maybe your bar path with the barbell is curved not straight.

    You flared your elbow too much demonstrating the BB row. He kept his tight against his lat, which is why he considered it more of a lat movement
